Making homes warmer, more energy efficient and lowering fuel bills
The Edinburgh Stair Project aims to help owners and tenants across the city to improve the energy efficiency of the stair and reduce the risk of fuel poverty. Changeworks, are currently looking for landlords and residents who would like help to install energy saving measures in tenements and flats. They can help owners find grants and subsidised rates for the measures, help landlords liaise with the Energy Saving Scotland advice centre (the government’s one stop shop for saving energy) and installers and providing support throughout the process. Depending on the householder’s age and individual circumstances, some residents may qualify for free measures funded by the Scottish Government while subsidised measures will be available to everyone regardless of age and personal circumstances. The installation of measures should help to make the individual flats and communal areas warmer and more comfortable, whilst at the same time reducing fuel bills and saving energy and improving the property’s rating on its EPC.
